This project was a challenge to create something commercial that is affordable and low maintenance to make. I went back to looking at simple things, i enjoy kinetic pieces and I believe play is a huge part of learning, experimenting and ultimately making. I have always found comfort in making and twiddling, especially when wearing jewellery, using this as a coping mechanism or to help me concentrate. The shapes are inspired by shelter, such as homes and comfort and from this I made paper machetes using slot methods to create 3D shapes, then from these I took aspects to make into metal. I used sterling silver, tube and oxidization to make some pieces a grey gunpowder colour.
